While children frequently have bright, healthy-looking smiles, sometimes they may need minimally invasive cosmetic dental treatments to look and feel their best. Children's teeth may become chipped or stained. Children may also have misaligned teeth that do not cause oral health problems but interfere with their confidence. For these reasons, we offer cosmetic care to our young patients.
Orthodontic Appliances
If your child feels self-conscious about misaligned teeth, you may want to consider orthodontic work. Braces or clear aligners can help your child smile with confidence.
Cosmetic Bonding
Cosmetic bonding is a great option for kids. The procedure is comfortable for children and can cover many aesthetic flaws in one appointment. Bonding can help with chipped, stained, and slightly misaligned teeth.
To perform cosmetic bonding, the dentist first cleans the teeth. Next, the dentist gently roughens the teeth using a safe acid solution. Roughening the surface allows the bonding material to adhere to the enamel.
The dentist layers the composite material onto the tooth, building it in layers and curing it with a special light. Your child will have a new, brighter smile when the procedure is complete.
To keep bonded teeth looking their best, ensure your child avoids biting ice, pens, and other non-food objects. The bonding material is strong but not as durable as natural enamel. The bonding material is also more prone to staining than natural enamel, so your child should take care with eating and drinking brightly colored foods.
Teeth Whitening
We offer take-home teeth whitening trays for pediatric patients with stained or discolored teeth. We use special solutions with a lower concentration of whitening material to reduce sensitivity.
The child wears the whitening tray for 30-60 minutes daily. The whitening process takes about ten days. Your child will have a brand new smile at the end of this period.
Maintaining a healthy-looking smile after teeth whitening is easy. Brush, floss, and bring your child to all scheduled dental appointments. Avoid deeply pigmented or dyed foods as well as dark-colored beverages.
Why Cosmetic Dentistry for Children?
Many parents feel reluctant to invest in cosmetic dental work for their children. If your child feels self-conscious about their teeth, these feelings could spill over into other areas of their life. A lack of confidence could cause your child to miss out on opportunities and feel inferior to their peers.
Contact Tender Smiles 4 Kids
