We offer the following pediatric dental services at our practice:

Preventive and Diagnostic Care – Preventive and diagnostic services are among the most important we offer because they lay the foundation for a lifetime of healthy smiles. These include dental cleanings, routine oral evaluations, fluoride treatments, digital radiographs, dental sealants, and oral hygiene instruction.

Orthodontic Services – We offer pediatric dental care and orthodontic services all under one roof, making coordinating care seamless. Our orthodontists at Tender Smiles 4 Kids offer Phase 1 and Phase 2 treatment, including metal braces, clear braces and Invisalign.

Restorative Dentistry – Restorative dental treatments repair teeth that are damaged due to decay or dental trauma, restoring their strength and function. These treatments include fillings, the Icon procedure for cavities, pulp treatment, and dental crowns. When restorative dentistry is not an option, we also offer tooth extractions.

Laser Dentistry – Our dentists are trained in using both hard and soft tissue lasers to make dental care stress-free and comfortable for our patients. We use hard tissue lasers to prepare teeth for dental fillings and crowns, while our soft tissue lasers are used for frenectomies to treat lip and tongue ties.

Cosmetic Dentistry – We offer safe, gentle cosmetic treatments like dental bonding for children who have cosmetic dental issues that make them feel self-conscious. 

Special Needs Dentistry – Our team is committed to ensuring that all of our patients have a positive experience at our practice. If your child has special needs, we will work closely with you to provide them the care they need comfortably and stress-free.

Sedation Dentistry – In some situations, dental sedation is needed to provide treatment safely and effectively. Sedation options include nitrous oxide, IV sedation, conscious oral sedation, and general anesthesia in a hospital setting.

What is the difference between a dentist and a pediatric dentist?

All dentists go to dental school, but pediatric dentistry is a specialty, which means we receive an additional two to three years of education and training after graduating from dental school. This extra training focuses on the unique dental needs of children.

Should my child see a pediatric dentist?

Yes, just as your child likely sees a pediatrician for their healthcare, they should see a pediatric dentist for their dental care. Like pediatricians, we have advanced training, specialized knowledge, and more experience treating children, which means your child will receive better care. We also make our office fun for children, putting them at ease whenever they visit.

How are lasers used in pediatric dentistry?

We are excited to offer laser dentistry to our patients and we use them in a variety of ways, including frenectomies, gum contouring, treating cold and canker sores, preparing teeth for fillings or crowns, biopsies, gum disease, and fusing tissues.

How often should children see the dentist?

Most children should see the dentist for routine oral evaluations and dental cleanings twice a year, although in certain circumstances, we may recommend more frequent appointments to monitor your child’s oral health more closely.

When should children start seeing a dentist?

Children should start seeing the dentist around their first birthday or no more than six months after the eruption of their first tooth—whichever comes first. These early appointments help your child feel comfortable at our office.
