Nitrous oxide is our preferred form of dental sedation, as it allows your child to be awake and aware as we work, which is important for helping them overcome their anxiety. That said, we do offer safe forms of sedation that allow your child to feel as if they are sleeping through their procedure, although technically speaking, they are still conscious. In some circumstances, general anesthesia may be needed; in such cases, we work with an anesthesiology team for your child’s safety.

When should kids start getting dental x-rays?

When it comes to dental x-rays, we take a customized approach with each of our patients. Children who have a higher risk of dental decay, orthodontic concerns, or other oral health issues require radiographs sooner and more often than those without these risk factors. Regardless, we use digital radiography equipment, which emits far less radiation than traditional dental x-rays.
